Suggestion to new statistics

I have a suggestion to a new statistics:

An overview of active caches in a region, placed by year and number of you have found of those.

It is already possible to have an overview by caches in a region or city and you can filter by active caches and a period when they were placed.

For example: you have a choicebox with country and region, and then the result is a table by year:

The idea for this statistics is when a logged the oldest caches for a specific region. When i found all of them from 2000, i logged those from 2001,... so at the moment i have found all the caches in my region places between 2000-2010 and i want to log those from 2011 this year.

Feature request: please add filtering to list of Signed Challenges

With a lot of signed challenges it is difficult and time-consuming to go thru the list looking for cache size, DT, attributes etc. Is it possible to add filtering options to the page, eg. "Filter out/in all challenges requiring climbing gear".

Weekly Event Notifications Instead of Daily

Currently, event notification emails are sent once per day. For my use case, it would be sufficient to receive the notification email only once per week (for example, every Monday).

Since events have to be created at least 14 days in advance anyway, a daily notification feels unnecessary and could be reduced to a weekly summary.

I have seen that this feature has been requested before. however there is hardly any response. the overview has already this feature but only for the whole country. cant you just add more filters to the overview?

Live Map functionality request: select area and save to Virtual GPS

I know that in some of the map tools (like map of challenge caches) there is the "area selection tool" as well as "save to VGPS button" However, for Live map, for some reason, these are missing. Would it be possible to get those to Live map as well?

If it is of any use, I often travel to remote places and it'd help to gather all the caches of particular area (not necessarily full country/region but user selected area) via VGPS to GPX to c:geo which of course can also be done by other means, but this just could be the most convenient I think.

Profile/need maintenance? Is it possible to add a parameter to select the number of DNF before triggering

Would be great to add to the page Profile/need maintenance a parameter to select the minimum number of DNF to enter the list. For the moment ass soon there is one (1) 'need maintenance' it enter the list, i agree, but ass soon there is one (1) 'dnf' it is also included in the list. Would be great to have a parameter to select how many DNF before being counted for list. In my search for cache thet need maintenance i generally do not react before there is 3 consecutive dnf on the cache. Would be great also to have the same filter capabilities than in any other filter to select the type of cache as the tradi may require 3 dnf before being inspected, but for a multi, for the satisfaction of searcher, it could be reduced to 1 dnf before having a look.

As hider, what is your opinion. As developper, would it be so difficult to add this parameter? Have a great day all!

Hi,

I thought he PGC browser plugin would warn me when someone logged one of my challenges and I visited the page.

Another cacher warned me that someone who did not fullfill the requirements to log my challenges did log them.

Is there a easy way like with the cache owner dashboard on GC.com to get a overview of challenge caches I own and people who might not fullfill the requirements?

Extremes by area enhancement request

I love the new Finds > Extremes table but I have a problem. I own the cache with the most favourites so cannot qualify for this.

Could we have the table show not only most extreme caches found, but also if they are owned. Owned caches are, of course, not finds, so should be marked in with a different colour, perhaps grey.

Alternatively, perhaps show the extreme caches of cache owners that are not me. In other words I might see the second most favourited cache. This would give different result for different people, so is not preferred.

And now Project-GC has given me more geocaching objectives... As if I didn't have enough already!

We have the league for most dt loops but it doesn’t appear filterable on cache types. There is a league for unique dt by type in one day but not more generally. IE I cannot see how to view all the people from uk who have a full dt grid in earthcaches or virtuals or multis letterbox etc. I can if I view in one day but then no one has so I need the time frame more open.

On our profile stats page under the events tab, please could you add a section for Attended by Year.

Within this section could it also change between showing all event types to showing each one individually, like when you select type on the calendar for Attended by event date.

Is it possible to have the "Refresh Data" option added to Download CSV within the virtual GPX

I often view data from the Virtual GPX and recently discovered the archived status of some caches had not been picked up (some were archived 2 months prior to the date I downloaded the CSV).

I have discovered that if I extract a GPX file, this will provide me with the option to refresh the data before the GPX is downloaded.

Is there a way to have the refresh data option available within the Download CSV window also?

There was a Facebook Group post about why do you favorite an %earthcache. Well that got me to thinking. Why not have some good favorite point stats? Could we produce things like

favorites per icon
percentage of an icon favorited
favorites per state/county
favorites per D/T

I am sure others could figure out some more favorite points you have given stats that would be fun to know.

Coming Events tool doesn't show event start and/or end times. Any way to get that added?

We did notice that event start and end times can be used as parameters to the GetFind function in PGC checkers. What we're trying to accomplish is an easy method to retrieve all of the upcoming events for a given region (Michigan) and a group of counties as a table. All that is there. The only thing missing is the start/end times.

We would be using this information to fill in a publicly available calendar of events on the Michigan Geocaching Organization home page and we think it might be useful for other groups also. Yes, we can do a PQ on Geocaching but it's not nearly as useful and requires each event to be examined individually for start/end times.

Comparison of countries in one day vs cachers from a region rather than worldwide?

A hard subject to search on. I’d like to be able to compare the number of countries visited in 24 hours for a region. As worldwide it wouldn’t be fair perhaps but in Europe we can visit quite a few in 24 hours. So I’d like to see a table of say all the people from the UK and how many countries they’ve visited in one calendar day.

this is done on my own stats so checkers probably exist but I really want the comparison table like you’d get for dt loops or most dt combinations in one day etc.

If it already exists please tell me how to do it. Thanks again.

Hello, would it be possible to implement new statistics table "Finds by found month"?

For calendar days, there are "Finds by found date" and "Finds by hidden date", but for months there is only "Finds by hidden month".

The information is already collected in "Find by month per year", but displaying this info in heat table would be also helpful because the bar charts for every year do not have the same scale (for every year the month with most finds has the tallest bar but the value is different => you can't easily compare between same months on different years on first sight)

condensed filter option for cache types

In the filter list for cache locations, there are at first the continents and then the individial countries.

I like to have this kind of filter for cache type lists, that there is an filter option for example "physical cache types", "events cache types", "virtual cache types".

With this condensed filter, you don't have to click on for example traditional, multi, wherigo, letterbox, unknown when you want to filter for all physical cache types.

"I'm making plans to attend the Yuma Block Party in February. I created an event notifier for newly published events around Yuma, Arizona.

I want to be able to filter the notifier by dates to alert me of events happening closer to the date of the block party.

New cache notifier dynamic location updater

This is not a question, but rather a solution created by me to ease the process of updating dynamic location for new cache notifiers.

I found the configuration of GPS logger overwhelming for what it's supposed to do regarding the new cache notifiers at Project-GC.

I have created a simple yet useful webapp that imitate the request that GPS logger makes to update the new cache notifier with dynamic location. It does not use any data on server side. It just composes a URL that GPS logger sends on location updates and performs it on behalf of the user. It remembers the values in user's browser.

One can choose location from the map or use the device's GPS to update the notifier location. It should work on all mobile devices.

Team, I understand the "need" for a cookies message, to ask users for consent to use cookies. However, the one we're getting is the very unneccesary "extremely annoying" kind imo. It asks not just for consent, but for "Legitimate interest" confirmation too. Especially the vendor preferences screen lists lots of individual vendors with individual options.

By default, "Consent" is turned off, but "Legitimate interest" is turned on. In my opinion there is no such thing as "Legitimate interest" from vendors (they are just using this as a backdoor to still get your consent on their cookies with your data), and I don't want to have to turn off each of these options individually. There is no option to redraw all consent for all "Legitimate interest" and turning them off by hand literally takes minutes. All of these options should have been turned off by default in my opinion. On top of that, having to give this kind of consent while I'm already paying for the site doesn't sit well.

So if you can, please get rid of this particular cookie consent screen and get me another one with a simple accept or deny for 2 or 3 options max that doesn't take me minutes to adjust.

log diff - should show when log type changes, e.g. "note" to "found it". Edited logs notifier should also be triggered.

Both the "log diff" tool and the "edited logs notifier" should trigger and display when the log type changes.

Several of my caches have logging requirements, and if they don't satisfy the requirements, I may need to delete their log. Sometimes persistent newbies will keep trying to log it and I have to delete the logs again.

I get an email with every new log, so I know to check qualifications then, but if a user logged it as a "note", then waited a while, and then changed it to a "found it", I would not have any notification of that and their log may stay without my knowledge.

Enhancement request - Virtual GPS - show superunit(s) in group header

I very often group the VGPS list by country, region or county. The group headers will contain the grouping element, all groups are sorted alphabetically by this element.

Example: the list contains caches from several countries and is grouped by county.

The groups of the different counties are sorted alphabetically across the individual countries and are not grouped together in supergroups (which would be the optimal improvement :-)

Since the latter is certainly not so easy to realize, my wish would be to place the names of the region and the country to which the respective county belongs in the group header after the name of the county. When grouping by region, this only applies to the name of the country.

This would allow you to quickly recognize which countries and regions many unknown counties belong to.

Feature Request - Add a "Cancel" Button for "Discover Trackables"

I really like the "Discover trackables" feature. Upon occasion, I've written up my "Log text" and typed in a ton of "Tracking numbers" and quickly hit that Discover button too soon before realizing, oh man...I didn't set the right date. Ugh! And then, I just watch it sit in the queue. It's just sitting there...waiting, and waiting. I'm yelling at my screen to cancel but it doesn't pay any attention to me?!? I just wish there were a Cancel button so I could correct and re-Discover. Thanks for considering!! =)

D/T rating on cache markers on map

c:geo has a very nice feature where it can show D/T rating indicator on caches on the map. This makes it easy to get an overview of caches in an area without having to individually view them.

I'd like to see a similar feature in PGCs maps where an (optional?) D/T marking is applied to icons on the map.

Improvements to the script tag list

I posted this request (with far less context) in the Miscellaneous section of the Challenge Checkers Forum a while ago, but got no response. I will try again here.

Feature Request

The current page that displays a checker's tags is... unwieldy. It is simply one giant list of tags that all load in at once. For scripts with many (> 1000) tags, this can make a number of checker-related operations slow. I would like to propose the following changes:

(1) Paging of tags. It would be nice if the tags were split across multiple "pages" (say, 100 tags per page.) This way, not all tags are loaded in at once. This reduces the strain on both the tagger's computer as well as the PGC servers.

Example - note that the paging buttons:

(2) Searching of tags. It would be lovely to see a search mechanism for tags on a particular script. Use-cases:

- A user wants a tag edited, so they email me. The only way for me to locate the tag is via Control-F. This is... annoying; it would be nice to see some kind of built-in search.

- A user asks for a "test checker" or a "statistic generator checker" to be edited, so they email me. Now, there is no "good" way to locate this particular tag without (1) opening the checker page, (2) reading the tag comment, (3) Control-F for the tag comment.

Example - note the search filter "tagger:" which I would use to filter down to only my tags:

(3) Editing of tags from the "My scripts and tags" page. This is similar to (2). When I am on the "My scripts and tags" page, I see a big list of tags. Each one has an "Edit tag" button. However, when I click this, it opens the script page at puts me at the top of the big list of tags.

So if I want to edit a particular checker, I must first locate it in the "My scripts and tags" page, and then click the "Edit tag" button, and then locate it a second time amongst all the other tags on that script. What would be nice to see is "Edit tag" taking me directly to the edit menu, like this:

Clicking "Edit" beside tag opens the editor immediately...

Request for a Cache Maintenance Badge

I enjoy doing cache maintenance and getting the troops in order. It’s almost as good as finding caches. I think it would be great to raise the profile of the green maintenance spanner to a level equivalent to that of a smiley.

Would it be possible to have your green spanners as part of your stats, and have a reward badge on BadgeGen too? I think this would be cool way to promote cache maintenance - it would be a win-win for COs and seekers.

I note that there were some comments previously about frequent maintenance suggesting a poorly designed cache - but I would argue that no cache can ever be maintenance free. There is always cache creep, full logbooks, wet contents, torn ziplock bags, rubbish and damage to containers that affect every single cache. Regular, pro-active maintenance is the sign of a committed CO, and it would be great to see this recognised.

Is there a place to see "Finds per day"? Not logs but logs + lab stages

D/T-matrix filter for location (countries)

I would like to be able to search for full d/t-matrix based on location. There are challenges now where you for example need full d/t in three different countries. The checker only shows you the best option based on where you are closest to fulfill the challenge. For example I have full d/t in Sweden and Denmark. Third option from the checker is Portugal. But I find the chances of fulfilling it bigger in Norway or Finland. For me countries are the main reason but I guess you should go all the way and have the filter available for counties etc as well.

favourite points % how obtained

I have had a look to see if this (Q1) has already been asked and answered and can not find it - apologies if it has.
In the 'CO Hides' stats page there is the Total favourite points recieved statistic which has the total number and then in brackets a %age.

presumably this %age is a Total Favourite points / total finds figure or similar (clarification needed)

For my fav count I have calculated the total of finders of my caches total and not including any sort of event (as you don't get favs for those) and found this is not near the %age figure given in the brackets

Question 1. How is that worked and does it take into consideration premium member status of finders of those caches (as it is only PMs that can give fav points) ?

In addition to this - there is the Favourite Points Received table - found in Statistics/find stats/Top Favourite Points logged

which is different to the Statistics/cache stats/top favourite % table

in that it charts a cachers total fav point count for all their owned caches

Question 2. Would it be possible to do a similar table for 'favourite points received %age' table which charts the %age of Total Favourite points / total finds for all caches owned by each cacher

Could we please have some more fields added to the calendar ics file that is linked in the Project-GC event notifier emails. Currently it tells me I am supposed to be somewhere but it does not say why. Or when. Could you please add these fields:

SUMMARY: Event name
DESCRIPTION: link to the event cache page (maybe also include full cache description (note that many characters need escaping, eg "," = "\," and crlf = "=0A")

Time (might also require timezone IDs)

Exclude caches from Profile Stats "Hidden"

Having adopted caches that were hidden before I even started geocaching I'd like to exclude those from the "Hidden" tab in my profile stats - at least for the "Cumulative Finds" and "Caching karma" charts as the scales on those are so badly scewed due to the adopted caches they are basically useless.

Feature request: Generate field notes from log compare

I love the new Log Compare tool. I used to have a Garmin GPS, but somehow the built-in memory broke at some point, corrupting the geocache_visits.txt file. I did not have a backup.

What I had, though, is that I found a lot of the caches in that period with another geocacher. The new Log Compare tool lets me find out which.

My feature request is this: Please make the log compare tool able to generate field notes files from the result. That would make it easier to log them with the correct dates.

With the tool "Map comparison" I can compare my finds with those of other cachers. However, when I add multiple cachers to the compare list, it only compares which caches ANY of the others have already found. However, I would like to see only those caches that ALL other cachers in the comparison list have found, but I have not.

In the notify mail that someone edited a Log from the past you only get the new Log. Is it possible to send the old with too? And it will even nice to know If the logtyp changed from DNF to Found it.

Could the button "create map" open in new tab?

When you go for creating a map showing a result of a query, it opens a window where you enter a number of caches and the button create map.

Is it somehow possible, that clicking on the create map button opens the map in a new tab or window and not in the same one?

Middle click on mouse doesn't work and right click doesn't offer an option for opening in a new tab/window.

Way to filter out past events

Would it be possible to add a filter for removing past events from maps?

Unfortunately, most event hosts are not disabling their events after the day.

If there is a way to express this in custom filters, I haven't found it. There is no option to filter by date here.

Also when I try to add multiple cache types to a statement, it doesn't seem to actually do anything (the Type has a multiselect list).
The Statement Line shows

But none of the cachetypes remain selected after adding and saving.

Adding each cachetype as an individual entry seems to work.

Filtering just by the placed date in the future doesn't work as non event caches will not be shown.
