Map Compare with multiple people breaks when changing geocache filters?

I'm trying to do a map compare with 4 other people. I set up the top with the other geocacher names. Then I go to add the criteria (counties, types, sizes) and after I hit submit it has reset the people I'm comparing to and only keeps the first person added. I have to go back in and add the additional people again to get the compare to work as needed.

As I'm attempting to do this again to document this for this post, now its not working at all. Even when I don't change the geocaching criteria in the second section and I go add the geocachers back and hit submit, its removing everyone but the first person I added

Having the Map-Compare-Feature use the multi-select in the show-section.

Select "found by neither play" and "found by at least one player" will also show the "Found by both players" on the map, even it is not selected.

When I do a Map Compare between myself (FloridaJim) and fuzzydave for Talbot County, Maryland, USA, it shows I've found two Earthcaches he hasn't.

But when I run Top Found Percent for the same county, we both show as 100%...but he hasn't found the ECs.

I'm just wondering why...

Bug: Caches with identical coords in map compare

I have found a bug in Map Compare and probably a host of other maps as well, in that if two caches have identical coordinates, while both show on the map (except that you can't tell as the cache icon perfectly overlaps, but I could tell as one has a found smiley in the corner masked by the cache icon above it), when clicking on the icon we get a popup identifying only one of the caches and cannot click on the other. Perhaps add a "next" link so we can pick up the details of the other? Or multiple clicks on one cache icon cycles through caches at that coordinate? (and while about it, make it fuzzy - cycles through cache icons that overlap).

Caches can have identical coordinates if they are different types, eg multi and traditional, or if one is archived.

Feature request: extension of map compare (what caches had been found by ALL on compare list but not by me)

With the tool "Map comparison" I can compare my finds with those of other cachers. However, when I add multiple cachers to the compare list, it only compares which caches ANY of the others have already found. However, I would like to see only those caches that ALL other cachers in the comparison list have found, but I have not.

I cannot sort the types of caches in Map Regions, e.g. I wanted to check regions of my country where I haven't attended the events and the map shows me all 10 regions, but I know I have only 4. Same with other cache types. Is it a bug?

Bug - Map Compare Filters Sticking

I have noticed in map compare several of the filters will remain even after they are removed from a search. Specifically custom filters, show disabled/archived, and possibly others. The filters will not show as visible on the map compare page but when you hit "filter" to display results, they will show up in the search.

Then when you navigate back to the previous page, they will be visible on the map compare page. Sometimes you have to go back and forth 2-3 times between pages before the filters are gone.

Is Map Compare broken?

I'm trying to do a (simple) Map Compare between a friend and me.

But the map doesn't even show up -- only an empty rectangle. With 0 caches.

Is this feature broken?

Map Compare showing archived caches in my home state despite no location chosen. .

I'm trying to find archived caches with map compare. It seems to focus finds only in California despite having no locations chosen. An example query:

Profile name: a user account with no finds

Cache location: all blank

Show: none found

Hidden: 2005/01/01 to 2005/07/31

Show Archived on and Custom filter Archived on

Result is 6265 archived but only in California

If I change location to US/Florida, I get 0 results

I think my query is archived caches in those months of 2005 that my user has not found.

Maybe I have misunderstanding with my query but getting results in California and not elsewhere has me puzzled.

Is there a tool to help finding a place for a new cache

I know the "Map Compare" page shows 161m circles and corrected coordinates can be used.

I can also filter the "cache type" by physical ones.

=> But i don't know how to display physical waypoints of e.g. multi and mystery caches.
Is there an additional way to get a better result?

Persisting map compare queries

I usually spend considerable effort to define Map Compare queries with various filters configured in a specific way. I would like to have a way to save those queries under a name such that I can load the query at a later time into the Map Compare form, where I want to be ablo to modify certain fields such as date/time, before I then rerun the query.

Feature request: Button to create new Virtual GPS list

This feature request concerns a problem that I have run into a great number of times now: It does not follow naturally for me to always create a new VGPS list before I start searching for caches that I would like to go and find. Often times I can be browsing through multiple search tools (mostly Map Compare) and then figure out that I would like to save that to a list. The workflow of Map Compare is currently such that you need to have created and selected your VGPS list ahead of time if you wish to add to it.

The suggestion is to add a button to (at least) Map Compare along the lines of this:

If clicking the "New" button, you would be presented with the create new list dialogue from the VGPS page, slightly modified:

The semantic of completing the dialogue would of course be:

Create the new list
Change the current selection to the newly created list
Add the caches from the search

This would the most intuitive expectation of such a button in my opinion and it would probably require the least amount of coding to make work.

Let me know if you like the suggestion :)

Footenote: The question has been asked before, but I don't see that it got an official response back then. I think it is OK to propose it once more.

map compare missing caches

I just did a map compare for caches from 2009 in the netherlands, including archived,against project-gc

I got 33 caches only I found and 3487 neither found, giving a total of 3520 caches in the Netherlands from 2009. This corresponds to my personal GSAK database.

However, when I add some more users to the comparation, I got a few less.

I only had 9 in the PnavE_81 found tab instead of 33. This tab now only shows caches that only I have found and none of the other users. This seems ok. The 24 that I had found and some of the other users I did the compare against had also found wheren't in the "some" tab however. That one only showed caches one or more of the other users had found.

map compare with POI as center location doesn't find anything

Using Map Compare, I sometimes use its attribute "Center Location" with a radius. I now found out, that when the named Center (typing will find it) is not a city or the like, but a POI, I get no caches then. Using the city nearby presents a lot of caches.

Example (by typing the location into the adequate field):

Call "Map Compare" from menu, fill "Profile Name" adequately, Cache location's Country (i.e Germany)
Select "Show: None found, One found"

Add Filter "Center/radius (km)", fill "Radius" e.g. 50

Fill "Center" with "Boglerhaus...." (Rest will be provided) --> press "Filter"; Result "0 Cache...." (in two lines)

Fill "Center" again now with "Friedrich-Bogler-Straße..." (Rest will be provided) [this is the street where Boglerhaus is located :-] )

--> press "Filter"; Result "many caches"

Any idea?

Map compare count difference

I was looking to show a map of my finds so I ran Map Compare with my profile selected, no second profile and no location selected. I had checked One Found and Owned as Found (I adopted a few I previously found).

Did some searching in the posted questions, faq and google but didn't hit any previous answer for this.

Result difference for my finds (hopefully links to actual result pages):
Map Compare - 1302 caches
Profile Stats - 1910 (1920 w/ 10 lab caches)

Is there a more appropriate way to map my finds on PGC?

Any explanation for the 608 cache difference?

Cannot find "Northern Ireland" in "Map Compare"

"Northern Ireland" is not listed either in "United Kingdom" nor in "Ireland".

The map compare doesn't show the caches in a city, but around it. Is this normal?

I want to see the caches in an area of a city, but they don't show. Why? It's just like a giant hole in a geocache map.

Sometimes a member of our group of cachers has no time to come with us. In this case we want to find caches, the absent Cacher already found, but not the other teams of our group. Because, in the future, we want to go to the caches we all, including the absent one, haven't found and we don't want to annoy him with finding Caches we all haven't found.

Map Compare bug when owner FTF available

I have two caches GC6XF8P and GC7D73Y which have a FTF available. When I do a map compare ticking owner found these two show up in "none found" group.

I assume the logic is checking if any logs and if zero then instantly marking as in "none found" category rather than checking if it is owned by any of the accounts being compared.

I'm trying to find caches that have been archived in my area. I've set up a filter for the area and date, added the 'Include Archived/Disabled' filter set to Archived, and added a custom filter that should display only archived caches.

When I run this I get a map. Above the map there is a key entry for caches found by me, and another for caches I haven't found. For the specific filter I've set up I see this

The 0 caches that only gasbottle has logged
The 15 caches that neither has logged

However, on the map I see only three entries, and only three appear in the list for 'None Found'. The lists for 'Both Found and 'gasbottle found' are both empty.

What am I doing wrong?

Cache location filter custom list

I frequently use the Map Compare tool to find out which caches are a good option for trips with certain geocachers. The filter will remember which geocachers I wish to compare finds with, and the country and region is also remembered. I, however, always have to select the conties manually every time.

I often search for caches in my own county (municipality) and the neighbouring ones. That's 4 selections every time I use the tool. On top of that, the list of counties is empty initially, so the procedure is as such:

Click on Map Compare
Click on another region than the one you want (the correct region is selected, but the list of counties is empty)
Click on the correct region (only then will the correct list of counties appear)
Click on the first county and hold down CTRL
Repeat (4) until all counties are selected
Click "Filter"

This is of course doable but tedious. My suggestion is to implement some of the following

Make a favorites list that can be selected as an option in the "Cache location" filter. It will then be like a speed dial to frequently used configurations of the cache location filter.
Make the "Cache location" filter remember the last selection on county(s) as well as country and region. That will at least make subsequent queries on the same areas easier.
Make the Custom Filter able to specify cache location as well.

Any of the above will help.

Map Compare - Broken?

For the past week, the Map Compare page has been holding onto filters from a previous compare that was run about a week ago causing it to need to be rebuilt every time to clear all the old filters and add new ones. It was nice in the past when the map compare remembered the LAST filtered search but that seems to have broken about a week ago.

Today, when loading the Map Compare page, it simply returns a box for the Profile Name and below that an error message that looks like this:

Map Compare now defaults to old filter set... What changed?

A little over a week ago I ran a Map Compare and added a series of filters to include a route. Now, for some reason, every time I open Map Compare regardless of what new compares I have since completed, the page loads with all the old filters and settings for that one I did over a week ago, as if that specific compare has become my default somehow.

In the past, it always seemed that Map Compare would "remember" the setting used in you last compare so if you jumped out to setup a virtual gps or check some other page, then return to the map compare screen, you would not have to rebuild the compare from scratch because your last configuration was still there.

Anybody know what changed or how to "clear" this old set of filters?
