The message is misleading. She does qualify but the script did not find a solution before it timed out.by rragan - Miscellaneous
Did you try it on your user or user Xnard for whom it still times out? I have found that users with 10k or more finds typically see a fast solution. They have so many options a solution shows up quickly.by rragan - Miscellaneous
Pretty much what I assumed was going on. She has a completed DT grid but not enough total finds to make hitting upon a solution likely. She told me she did it by hand but it took her several days to get a solution. My thoughts on it had been to sort the low number of finds DT cells and try to get them settled down and then continue with those with more finds leaving things like 1.5/1.5 for the enby rragan - Miscellaneous
This checker https://project-gc.com/Challenges/GC8H55N/47486 times out on user Xnard. She has fewer finds than folks it handles. I appreciate the computational difficulty of fitting 81 slots against the total set of attributes and iterating to find a solution that works. Can the script be sped up? I didn't dig through the code but discarding finds with no attributes should be done althoughby rragan - Miscellaneous
Interestingly, this will get harder every year. By 2031, you will need 31 finds every month.by rragan - ARCHIVE Checker requests (completed)
Ah, thanks. I had not intended to exclude Traditional. The error I made was trying to exclude locationless. I'll edit the tag to allow Traditional.by rragan - Miscellaneous
This checker is not showing qualified because Ohio is missing. https://project-gc.com/Challenges/GC89MYN/43452 with user Michael_SFBA He found it recently so I thought maybe it hadn't been picked it up yet. However, his Map view on PGC shows two finds in Ohio so I think the site knows about them. Any idea why it is failing?by rragan - Miscellaneous
Seems likely as user has 65 locationless finds. It looks like the script accepts a typed list from the tag. Can you confirm that enumerating all valid cache types in a new tag would fix the problem? Locationless would be excluded.by rragan - ARCHIVE Checker requests (completed)
User "two bison" pointed out that the checker script shows finds in 7 states where he has never cached. Comparing with his stats maps, Florida would be one such erroneous state.by rragan - ARCHIVE Checker requests (completed)

Regarding the text area providing details of a qualified challenge -- i often want to paste the text into a Found it log. It is very difficult to select on at least iOS mobile devices -- not sure about Android. How about a button to copy the area to the clipboard. Failing that, a button to select the entire contents so I can do the copy? I can solve this with my own bookmarklet but I'd ratheby rragan - Miscellaneous
The new "feature" of the Project-GC browser extension that shows possibly invalid Challenge Found It logs bears discussion. It shows users with a Found It on a challenge that might not meet the requirements of the challenge. I was looking at the Well Rounded Cacher Original Fizzy Challenge https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC11E8N_well-rounded-cacher-the-fizzy-challenge and saw aby rragan - Miscellaneous
This appears to be an experiment Groundspeak is trying. It ran for a while in Norway and recently appeared in Ontario and possibly other Canadian provinces. I found a couple in Florida but no pattern I could see on where. I seriously doubt GS will have an API for an experiment.by rragan - Miscellaneous
This checker looks to see if you qualify for Earthcaches by classification. It notes that certain ECs for certain classifications may need to be explicitly allowed by the script. https://project-gc.com/Challenges/GC1Z4PZ/15796 This Earthcache should be added to the allowed list for Geologic Time. A quick perusal of the description clearly shows that to be the topic of the Earthcache. httby rragan - ARCHIVE Checker requests (completed)
Listening to a recent HQ podcast, it sounds like there is a regular meeting where a number of people discuss and consider appeals.by rragan - Script development
This is starting to get similar to the other thread for 10% of the surface of the globe. https://project-gc.com/forum/read?4,15439by rragan - Script development
Fizzy suggested the Hobo-Dyer projection as reducing computational costs. See linked post in thread. I appreciate only Mercator mapping is supported.by rragan - Script development
I think he assumed a polygon on a planar earth projection. Farthest NSEW finds would give 4 bounds Then picking two more gets interesting. If the first 4 are over 10% you could almost call it quits. Failing that, most NE,NW,SE,SW would be tried for the best two I guess. Current stats already list most northerly, easterly, etc. If those are "free", that could save time.by rragan - Script development
Adding another challenge idea to the main one being discussed here: This is from fizzymagic and is the "well traveled cacher challenge". His idea is the cacher must find 6 caches such that the area of the polygon formed by those 6 caches is greater than 10% of the Earth's total surface. The idea was discussed at some length in the Geocaching.com forums. fizzy got so far asby rragan - Script development

"The objective of this challenge is to find caches whose GC Code end in each number 0-99. " The current checker accepts the 0-99 digits anywhere in the GC code and so declares success when it is not correct to do so.by rragan - ARCHIVE Checker requests (completed)
On an iPad, I cannot drag/select all the list of qualifying caches -- the text area does not scroll with the drag. I can select a word but the drag loses selection at the top or bottom of the area. Nor does Select All seem to work. Can the HTML be tweaked to remedy this or offer a Copy to Clipboard if possible?by rragan - Miscellaneous
An unchallenge would be a way to introduce the well rounded cacher idea to those who might wish a personal challenge not allowed by GC. Strivers would have to do their own bookkeeping to determine eligibility, but this is not a new thing. Once done, a logged note could document the achievement. I doubt that project-gc would be interested but I can fantasize about better supported Unchallengesby rragan - ARCHIVE Checker requests (completed)
You could make a simple but related challenge and add an Unchallenge to it. https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC61AYB_bcs-nrhp-kern-county-unchallengeby rragan - ARCHIVE Checker requests (completed)
The checker for my Electoral College Challenge seems to have been working fine until user Monsterblader reported it said he qualified when he did not. I looked at his project-gc profile and it says he has finds in 24 states. The checker script reports finds in 25 states. The problem state is Texas. I read through the script and didn't spot a problem so my guess is he has some oddity in hby rragan - Miscellaneous
