Is there any way of displaying a map that shows ALL smilies ever recorded by a user

at least one third of my finds have been archived & therefore do not show on the map.

Yes. The Map Compare page (http://project-gc.com/Tools/MapCompare) will do that for you. You need to add the filter Show Disabled / Archived and select to show such caches as well, but that should be all.
