How do I change the map language? While I am in Japan project GC's map come up in Japenese. I can get google maps to change but project GC I can not so far.

The Japan map comes up in Japanese regardless of where you are. Langue is coded into the tiles for OSM, to the best of my knowledge this isn't something you can easily change. Have a read of this: https://help.openstreetmap.org/questions/40850/map-not-in-english-most-countries-show-native-languages
