1 region or 1 found

Technically one could have 1 found in a country without having found 1 region in the country. For example Denmark has 10 caches that currently don't belong to a region in Project-GC as can be seen in a Caches per Area search for Denmark, there are a couple of more countries with similar issues even if it's more common to have this problem on county level and not region level. Is this rare enough that it makes sense to simplify the requirement on the wiki, or should it say "1 find in the country" or similar instead of "1 region"? --Pleu (4523550) (talk) 15:47, 26 January 2022 (CET)

Depends. If you found one of those 10 caches, and nothing else, would you get the bronze badge even if you hadn't found any regions? Optimist on the run (6278087) (talk) 19:50, 26 January 2022 (CET)
The code currently requires a "region" to be found to get the badge, not a find in general. The issue with only requiring a find and rewarding a bronze badge for that, is when the user then makes another find in another area of the country. The user will still then only have 1 region found, and still have the region badge. I think it works decent as it is now. The other way would also be decent, but slightly worse in my opinion. Both solutions are "bad". :) --magma1447 (3305483) (talk) 19:54, 26 January 2022 (CET)

I was a bit irritated when I saw that the "All Counties" feature was activated in our statistics for Denmark - currently we have 97 of 98 counties in Denmark. Then after a while it became clear to me that it must have been the finds on the Ertholmene (Pea Islands) near Bornholm, as the two islands (Christiansø and Frederiksø) are directly subordinate to the Ministry of Defense and are therefore not assigned to any region. This means that the finds are assigned to an additional district (empty) and the number would therefore be 98, which corresponds to 100%. Now I hope that the query for the "All Counties" attribute is set so that a greater than or equal comparison takes place - otherwise we would lose the attribute when we visit the last Danish county that is still open. --FamilieFrohne (2024916) (talk) 20:03, 5 November 2023 (CET)

It's a bug that geocaches without a county are counted. Thank you for noticing, we have corrected it in our development environment now. For the record, having more counties than available would also grant the addon (the code compares with >=), but that is a case that shouldn't happen. For further questions, please contact our support and link this page. It's easier for us to follow up in the support system than on the Wiki pages. --magma1447 (3305483) (talk) 20:23, 5 November 2023 (CET)
