[Resolved] GC8JMYZ 2.02/2.02 Average Challenge

Hi CHECKER GURUS,

Could I please get a checker made that determines the following.

*An average at least of 2.02 Average Difficulty
*An average of least 2.02 Average Terrain
*At least 2020 caches found

Precedent
There was a checker made for 1.9/1.9 Average Challenge circa November 2018

Thanks In Advance

Sorry but the new guidelines do not allow ratio caching as challenge criteria.

Please read https://www.geocaching.com/help/index.php?pg=kb.chapter&id=127&pgid=206#percentageOfCaches

Not acceptable

But its not a percentage of caches...its a DT rating that reflects that you dont pick off easy findings.
Sure, some caches arent for everyone...and this will be one of those challenge caches.
Meanwhile...Ausmer and Jasmer checkers are created where you have to travel around the world and spend thousands on airfares/travels to complete such challenges, while persuing a certain level of caching is more obtainable...

I can see the issue...a checker was made in Late November for 1.9/1.9

It also fallus under rule 14 https://www.geocaching.com/help/index.php?pg=kb.chapter&id=127&pgid=206#positiveCriteria

Not finding caches: design that limits or punishes any element of finding caches.

Please ask your local reviewer if you do not agree but in any case I will not make a checker for a challenge which is not allowed

Leave it at that for now thank you.
Thanks for the feedback

The example you gave should not have been published in the first place, since it clearly violates the guidelines. I believe I recently saw a checker being made for D/T average over a set number of caches, ie. the average over that set number of caches and not all your finds. This alternative is viable since you simply have to find enough high D/T caches and not worry to be pulled down by any of the low D/T caches.

And here's a checker based on my last comment:

I still think this violates the guidelines but I will ask the review team.

I think this one is fine. After all, "Find 2020 caches with D>=2 and T>=2" would be a valid challenge and this is just a strictly less restrictive version of that. Also finding 1/1s is not punishing you in any way here.

You might be wright but lets wait and see what the review team at HQ is saying so we know for sure and do't have to guess anymore.

I did get an answer back from HQ last night about the two published caches
https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC8B382_t3-average-challenge
https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC89M77_t3-0-average-challenge

My question was "Are these challenges allowed or do they do not comply with the guidelines"

The reply

No, these should not have been published. You are correct that they do not comply with the ratio caching guideline.
