Re: GC6Y3M9 2x366 - Challenge

[Resolved] GC6Y3M9 2x366 - Challenge
December 13, 2016 06:50PM
Hi

I would like to request a checker for this Challenge. The Challenge is fulfilled if one has at least two finds at every day of year including the leap day. So the Finds for Each Day of the Year-Matrix shown at the statistics must be complete and every cell must be a 2 ore more.

Thx

Here is the link to the checker http://project-gc.com/Challenges/GC6Y3M9/23857

Please confirm that this is the checker you require!

Is it possible to show the date, when the challenge has been fulfilled?

Unfortunately the script output cannot produce this date

You will Lilly have a problem with the leap-day requirement.
Other challenges have require it to be optional so it don take 4 years to complete the challenge

All my calendar challenges require leap day as well as any other date. Has that changed with the new guidelines? If so, I've missed that requirement.

The checker script is fine as it is

I now about it from request that have neede change
http://project-gc.com/forum/read?11,4620,4848#msg-4848
The relevant text
"Got no from the norwegians reviewers when 29 february are included. If that day was excluded they will publish the challenge."

The thread induces an appeal for hidden date and that was ok if enough caches exist.
So hidden on leap day is ok bu not finds on leap day

I suspect the relevant guideline is
8. Attainable Not Acceptable
Quote

Requiring caches to be found in earlier years, as it is not attainable by someone new to the game.
Because leap day can result in 4 years to meet the challenge.

Is that important? It shouldn't be difficult to add, I suppose (it's my checker).

I don't think that it is necessary, but perhaps this will stop some guys to log physically, before the fulfill the condition and then to log to another time online as soon as they do. If it is too much work, you don't need to implement this, but maybe this is a challenge for you :)

@Target: I can't fin anything in the rules for a challenge cache which period is ok and which won't be so. Do you know the limit?

The guidelines are not clear on this subject. Some countries allow a find calendar of 366 days while the US allows only 365 days , ie leapday excluded.
Only in the time limited is mentioned "Maintaining a streak, at least one find per day, beyond 365 days. (new 2016)"

We'll see... this doesn't fit exactly my condition, because it depends on the day, one detects the challenge or the publish day. Furthermore it is really unrealistic that a new geocacher immediatly will start with an 365(6) streak. So it will take more than one year anyway ...

That was the first one i found with the relevant text and the appeal for hidden date
That challenge was for hidden dates but the there have been others with found date that have had the same problem

It is not that unrealistically that a newbie starts with a 365 streak I almost did directly. Have 2 missing days the first month and then 11 days more the second because of sickness.
I know PelleK that have a streak since his first found in 2011 to this day with 1971 days to.

But that is not the relevant point. It is that it can takes along time from you find the challenge until you can complete is.
If you start today it will take over 3 years

And for other challenges that just demands a lot of finds. I suspect most at possible in a year.
There 16 people with mor then 20 000 find i a yeas and the top ist 34637 find in a year
119 have more then 10 000 finds in a year

Sure, but you will agree that these cachers are not common cachers and I would expect that the rules are not aligned for those power cachers. And as you said: one day of thickness and one year becomes two and so on. So I guess that is normal (for normal geocachers) that it will take about three or four years to fill the 365-Matrix as well as the 366-Matrix...

But we will see, what the reviewer is thinking about this. I will discuss with him as well (in german) ... ;)

Unfortunally you were right :(! I had long discussions with the reviewer an even groundspeak. But they preserve their opinion, that there must be only one found per day and I had to omit the leap day. Boring, but groundspeak rules :X:X ...

Would you please align the checker?

Thanks and merry X-mas!

Checker is adjusted to leapday allowed

Thanks .... but the amount per day must be reduced to one too :(

{
"type": "",
"limit": 2,
"leapday": "allow"
}
