Re: GC9MR78 - Maryland's Geo-Beginnings Challenge

Please prepare a checker for finding 25 of the State of Maryland, USA, geocaches published in the year 2001. The challenge will require a minimum of 25 finds of the remaining 29 caches or any Maryland 2001 archived caches. I do have a bookmark list of them if that would be helpful. Thank You

Thanks you for getting to this checker so quickly. I did some testing and it looks good. Hopefully the reviewer will allow the cache as is and no changes will be needed.

The reviewer for this challenge said to set the required number of caches to be found to 23 and not 25 as currently programmed. Thanks for all the help.

The reviewer for this challenge said a list of only active 2001 caches does not meet geocaching guidelines.

Please revised checker to require finding 25 of the oldest 30 active caches in Maryland, USA. This way the challenge is dynamic as older caches get archived. I'm sorry this information was not given before your latest change.

I had the geocacher GoGayleGo contact me and said they found 42 Maryland caches that were published in 2001 and got the following reply.

You have found 22 of the needed 25
Missing cacheches are in red

The checkers can only check the current toplist.
If you were fulfilled it when you logged it in the past you might get a does not today.
Your log may have been correct but it cant be checked by this checker
On some challenges you when you accept it make a list and compare to that list. If you have done it you might fulfill the logging requirements right now but the checker can´t know that.
It is like if you make a new list right now. That is accepted on most challenges.

The project-gc reply does include 16 archived caches as well as 6 from the current active caches. I checked GoGayleGo against my bookmark list of all 2001 caches and also see that 42 caches have been found.

Do you know why the checker is reporting GoGayleGo does not qualify?

Have you checked against the non-archived caches in the 2001 list?

The checker recognizes the active 2001 caches but seems to pick and choose the archived Maryland 2001 caches.

I got this message from deepdish23 as he was doing some digging into the problem:

Hey, love your new Challenge Cache. I was looking at the Checker and running the checker on cachers that I know, and I think there is a slight bug in the checker. It looks like the checker, if it places archived caches onto the list of caches found, it will bump off a cache at the end of the list. For example, I have found three archived caches, but when I run the checker for me, it doesn't check if I have finds for GC2B02, GC2D8C, and GC2FC0, the bottom three caches on the top 30 list. If those get included I would actually qualify for the Challenge, though it currently says I don't qualify for it. Not a big deal for me right now, as the challenge is in an area of Maryland I don't go to very often, and my wife and I have plans to get one of the caches I don't have this weekend, but wanted to let you know.

Is there an update as to the repairs on this challenge checker? It is known replying with an "Unknown error" message.
