[Resolved] Oldest x 10 Challenge GCA8B00

I have a question on the checker. It's on the controversial Ohio's oldest cache .The checker shows Ancient Lake GC2DBE as the oldest because the placed on date is supposedly wrong, where most people and I believe Groundspeak says Shawnee Lookout Cache GC31A is the oldest in Ohio. Is there a way to change the checker or choose either / or, on the checker, since it goes off the placed on date?

I just looked at an archived challenge I had which was the same in Indiana in 2018 and the checker showed Shawnee Lookout Cache GC31A as being the oldest in Ohio on the checker.

The archived cache was GC7VPDW.

So is this something that can be changed or does it just go off of placed on dates?

The system queries for the active cache in the state with the oldest "placed date" field. (Or, if an even older cache has been found, but is now archived, that.)

It should be possible to exclude the controversial cache, but it will have to be vogelbird who does that.

The only way to do this with that script is to 'disallow' Ancient Lake GC2DBE in the filter. You can't specify an "alternate" oldest. If it's excluded, you'd need to find the next oldest by hidden date, presumably that's Shawnee Lookout Cache GC31A. That seems a little unfair to those drove all the way to GC2DBE from Ontario and found it, not knowing of the controversy (ie. me). Luckily for me, I have 11 oldest states (including Ohio), so I'd still pass your challenge. But, even if you allow GC2DBE, you still need 9 more states, so it's still a reasonable challenge. The real solution is for HQ to fix the publish date, but... that would probably cause a host of problems for others.

Thank you. I had this same challenge a few years ago and when I use that checker from the archived challenge, GC7VPDW, it shows Shawnee Lookout Cache as Ohio's oldest.⁴ But I'm fine leaving it, but a couple people have already contacted me about this issue.

When I use the checker attached to that one, it shows Ancient Lake in my list, but Shawnee Lookout Cache as yours (however, it uses a different script). Although, it looks like in the tag, Ancient Lake is supposed to be excluded (might be a bug?). Since that checker is exactly the same as the new challenge, if you're happier with that behavior, you can just clone that checker to your new challenge GC code (hit the "Clone Tag..." button and type in the new GCcode), and vogelbird can delete his tag.
