Re: Resurrection challenge checker

[Resolved] Resurrection challenge checker
February 22, 2017 12:24PM
Hi

I would like to make a tentative request for a resurrection challenge checker. The idea behind the challenge is a follows. A cacher would have to log an active cache that had not been logged for at least a year (see GC2FMJ5 for the idea).

Would such a challenge fit into the new geocaching guidelines and is it possible to make a checker for it? As soon as I know if the answer is positive, I can start to work on the cache :-)

Any advice would be much appreciated.
Kind regards

Unfortunately it isn't currently possible to write checkers for resurrection challenges as there is no way to query previous logs.

Thank you for your response. Under the current guidelines, do you know if it is possible to make an exception to the rule that a challenge cache needs to have a checker? I like the idea of this particular challenge because it helps to bring old caches back to life. I have personally succeeded to do this twice :-).

However,if it is not possible to create this challenge in its present form, perhaps someone may have a suggestion on how the cache idea can be adapted so that a checker could be used.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Kind regards

There is an alternative methode
PGC Lonely Cache checker

Checker for lonely caches, using the Project-GC definition of ( age / finds )
Age is calculated from last_publish_date if available, otherwise hidden date
Age is calculated to last_archive_date if available, otherwise today

Parameters:
threshold: The threshold for a cache to count as lonely (default: 31)
limit: The number of caches to achieve the challenge (default: 1)

Thank you Vogelbird for your input
It is nice to know that there is hope for this cache.
