[Resolved] GC56BR8 checker not right

https://project-gc.com/Challenges/GC56BR8/50195 is a checker that has been created for the above challenge
The criteria is as follows- a cache each for 1 to 5
1. One cache must have published co-ordinates with longitude in the range W000° to W089°
2. One cache must have published co-ordinates with longitude in the range W090° to W180°
3. One cache must have published co-ordinates with longitude in the range E000° to E089°
4. One cache must have published co-ordinates with longitude in the range E090° to E180°
5. The final cache can have published co-ordinates with any longitude but the published co-ordinates must be in the opposite latitudinal hemisphere as the published co-ordinates of the cache in the same quadrant above. In other words you must have 2 caches, one with an N and one with an S published co-ordinates for any one of the longitudinal quadrants of the earth.
5 caches in total

I have used this checker and noted that the output is wrong and so giving false indication that you have qualified

It seems the output for points 1-4 are all good but the final cache (point 5) is not coming over correctly - Firstly it gives a list of 2 caches, one for N one for S, only one is required - in my output the result was a duplication of 2 caches given in the list 1 to 4 - thus not giving a correct option for point 5

I have researched all archived messages to see who/when this was requested as I do not think it was the CO (the challenge was published pre-moratorium and no checker added at that point) also to see what was requested and whether it was checked

Please can this checker be amended to give the correct output

Thanks
Tim

Originally it was vogelbird who tagged this but he is away at the moment so I will take a look.

Sorry, I’m currently travelling to university & moving back in. I’ll attend to this as soon as I have a moment to.

Let's give this a shot:

https://project-gc.com/Challenges/GC56BR8/80674

Essentially it checks for (N+S of -180 to -90, and -90 to 0, 0 to 90, and 90 to 180) OR (-180 to -90, N+S of -90 to 0, 0 to 90, and 90 to 180) OR ...

I can add text if it is unclear but I am not sure what would be most helpful to write.

Hi
Thanks Hügh

I had to get my head round the output
As far as text goes the CO was looking for identifying a cache in each quadrant with the quadrant details - though I suppose the fact that this identifies the number of caches in each quadrant is sufficient
I was a little confused that this suggested I did qualify when I thought I didn't - but I worked out that it includes locationless caches (of old)
Looking at the cache page it states "However, where a cache is obviously not anywhere near to the location that it is published, such as R e f l e c t i o n s, it will be disallowed. The spirit of this challenge is that you have to have shown commitment to caching and have actually travelled to the 4 Corners of the Earth and Beyond. "
Since the 9 locationless caches that it says I found were based in the long -90 to -180 quadrant yet I was in the long 0-90 quadrant when I claimed them - I would therefore suggest that locationless caches are NOT allowed
So if this could be amended to that effect that would be great - No Locationless

Many thanks

I'll exclude Locationless and if I can HQ's official list of travelling/antipode caches as well.

Can I just clarify minlatitude:0 and maxlatitude:0
do they mean Northern hemisphere and Southern hemisphere in laymans terms
cheers

Pretty much. "0" is the equator, so a "max" of zero is everything below the equator (the southern hemisphere). A "min" of 0 is everything above the equator (the northern hemisphere).

OK, I've excluded Locationless caches. Still working on excluding travelling/antipode caches, that will require support from the scriptwriter. I also set the output to display 1 cache from each group. I also added some text to explain which quarter each block is checking.

Good job - will await the updates and review

Ok, looking at the new output - it is relaying all 4 searches - all that is required is one that says 'pass' with the linked cache details
Thanks

Not quite sure why this had got moved to resolve - there is still some tweaking to be done

I am not quite sure what you mean. You would like only the passing case to be reported? If so, that is not possible.

Ah - OK - I was not made aware of that - but if that is the case, thank you
Also has the travelling/antipode caches issue been resolved ?

Thanks

I have sent a message to the scriptwriter but in hindsight I think it might be unlikely that the necessary functions be added since the script is so big. We will see.

Travelling caches should now be excluded.
