Re: D/T by cache type grouping

[Resolved] D/T by cache type grouping

Looking for a new challenge checker please. But I am unsure as yet what level to set the qualifying mark at. SO hoping to create it, then I'll run it over a bunch of local cachers new and old around here before determining the point to set. So will take a little bit between create and finalise.

The precis is a D/T challenge, but with the requirements of finding a number of unique combinatons of cache types - using the groupings as per the https://www.geocaching.com/map Geocaching map page.

Find X combinations of Difficulty, Terrain by "cache Type" - where caches are grouped as per the Geocaching.com map filters (see https://www.geocaching.com/map).
* Traditional
* Multi
* Event (includes CITO, Mega, Giga, Community Celebration)
* Virtual (includes Earthcache, Webcam, Locationless)
* Other (includes Unknown, Letterbox, Whereigo)

So there are 405 possible combinations. I estimate I've found 250-300 of them, so the level will probably be around there.

I have seen other checkers along the same lines - they also produced a pretty pictorial view of the DT grid by type. That'd be good to include. For example: https://coord.info/GC8G04H .

My draft cache listing is GC8J4F4

please and thankyou.

Here you go:

Currently set up for 250 cells, you're at 256. We can change that as you want of course. I think the maximum possible for a new user is 333 since Events are forced D1 now afaik. Only if someone has non-D1 Events from before this rule was established they can get over 333.

Let us know if it's suitable.

edit: Added Locationless caches.

It looks to me that 250 hits the mark pretty good. I concur that the effective ceiling is 333 - so a 75% pass mark is reasonable. Of course, I have to qualify personally (phew), and I have checked a lot of the more gung ho locals and some are suprisingly short by a few (good - makes it a challenge), but there are a dozen or so locals I could find that do qualify.

Subject to my reviewer concurring (I'll come back if he wants it changed, but I suspect I'll be fine) I will say thankyou very much and sign off on this one.

P.S. this one's results is even better than I had imagined, I love the individual DT grids ... that's real bonus for me as it easily shows others that are short where to target. So awesome job PattuX. Thankyou.

Just a quick question - how do I reset the checker stats? Back to zero so that I can finally release this?

Those counters can't be reset.
