[Cancelled] Need a new checker GC87WTC

Here's one for the Rock Stars to attempt:

Must have 5 finds for every month geocaching existed (May 2000) prior to joining geocaching plus the month joined.

Example 1: Joined May 2000. 1 month. Must find 5 caches from May 2000.
Example 2: Joined Jan 2001. 9 months. Must find 45 caches from Jan 2001 and earlier.
Example 3: Joined May 2019. Must find 1145 caches from May 2019 and earlier.

I believe this challenge will require a new script.

Before somebody starts spending time on this script ask permission from your reviewer because of the sliding scale when somebody started caching

Please test and let us know if it functions the way you envisaged. Will then provide the real checker thereafter, after making a few tweaks. PS: this challenge is hard for people who registered recently since they have to find so much more caches than people who registered ages ago.

Looking at this a second time and taking into consideration the remark of pieterix I think that HQ will have a problem with the conditions. They don't create an equal playing field in stead somebody who joined this year gets punished.

So, we are testing the checker and we are not coming up with consistent results when looking for the 10 qualified Texas cachers for our Reviewer. We will have some data in a later post to show where this anomaly shows up.

I understand what your issue is but how is that different from ANY other challenge that allows previous finds? For example, a challenge to find 10,000 caches? Let’s say someone that’s been caching for a period of time that has found 9,999 caches. To qualify they only need to find 1 cache, but someone starting today has to find 10,000 caches.

Conversely, the relative “hardness” of this challenge is similar to when a cacher started. Someone that started in December 2000 has to find fewer caches, but the availability of caches for them to find is also restricted. However, someone starting today has over 3M options to choose from of available caches. So the hardness is more or less equal regardless of start date since the availability of caches also increases dramatically over the years.
