Hi there,

I'm looking for a checker to see if a cacher has found 1 cache in at least 2 Canadian cities that have hosted the Olympic Games. Is it possible to make the checker only recognize physical caches? The GC for this challenge is GCABQP3.

The following cities in Canada hosted the Olympic games:

Montreal, Quebec
Calgary, Alberta
Vancouver, British Columbia

Thank you for your time on this.

Hello KayTeeAre,

Unfortunately, this challenge is not publishable under the current Challenge Cache Guidelines:

Quote
Challenge Cache Guidelines - Section 10: Source of Criteria

NOT ACCEPTABLE
Challenges based on geographic areas other than countries, states/provinces, counties (or their local equivalent). Examples: user-defined mapping polygons, latitude/longitude, radius, etc.

The best we can do is the county of Greater Vancouver (includes Burnaby, Coquitlam, Langley, etc.) and Division No. 6, Alberta (includes Airdrie, Chestermere). Montreal should be okay. If that's okay then I can proceed with a checker.

Thanks,
Hügh

Just trying to make sure I'm reading this correctly:

The checker/challenge can be based on finding a cache in Greater Vancouver area, Alberta, and Montreal but not based on Vancouver, Calgary, and Montreal specifically - yes? (Truly asking - not being flippant)

Sort-of: the checker can be based on finding a cache in these "counties", nothing smaller:

- Greater Vancouver (BC) -- https://www.openstreetmap.org/relation/2218280
- Division No. 6 (Alberta) -- https://www.openstreetmap.org/relation/15695364
- Montreal City (Quebec) -- https://www.openstreetmap.org/relation/1571328

If you look at the OpenStreetMap links you should see an orange line demarcating the boundary of each of these regions.

And it's ok to say a physical cache or is that not allowed either? Does it have to include all cache types?

You can choose to accept only physical types -- Trad, Multi, Puzzle, Wherigo, LBX -- if that is what you want.

So to summarize (just so we're on the same page):

2/3 places out of the above mentioned minimum for checker to go green
Physical caches only

that totally works for me

Yep: physical caches in two of the three counties from above. You can use:

for that.
