Re: Checker Request for new challenge GC8D3PC - 5 x 10 distance

This challenge is based on the "Distance to Finds" on the Geocaching.com statistics page and requires a minimum number of finds for each of the first 10 distance ranges as follows:

DISTANCE MINIMUM FINDS

>1 mi 5 finds

1 mi to 10 mi 10 finds

10 mi to 25 mi 15 finds

25 mi to 50 mi 20 finds

50 mi to 100 mi 25 finds

100 mi to 250 mi 30 finds

250 mi to 500 mi 35 finds

500 mi to 1,000 mi 40 finds

1,000 mi to 2,500 mi 45 finds

2,500 mi to 5,000 mi 50 finds

This is my first time placing a challenge cache - thank-you for your patience!

The checker system doesn't have access to your home coordinates, which means it can't calculate those.

Oh that's disappointing :( I was hoping there was a way to just check someone's Geocaching.com (or Project GC) stats page? I think I can only place a challenge cache if there is a checker although in this case it would be simple enough for me to just check someone's stats page. Is there any way to create a distance based challenge?

Correct, you need a checker to be able to publish a challenge cache, but we can't provide you with a checker since we don't have the required details.

What type of distance based challenge do you want?

Hi, I’m looking for a checker that will see if someone has a certain amount of finds in the different “distance from home” categories as listed in their stats page.
Is that possible?

As mentioned above, not possible since the home coordinates are not available to checker systems.

Okay, thanks. I obviously have no idea how the back end of these things works, I thought it could just check the persons stats page! I guess it's not possible to do any type of distance related challenge as they would all involve checking the persons stats :(

There are many distance related challenges, eg. cache to cache distance (which doesn't need your home coordinates). Some ask for the distance around the earth, some to the moon, some other arbitrary distances. So yes, you can have distance related challenges, just none that requires your home coordinates.
