Re: Challenge Checkers Needed Please

Hi, I am putting out a series of challenge caches and have looked for checkers. I
cannot seem to locate what I am looking for.

The challenges are to find caches with favorite points. Any number of caches can
be found to qualify if the total of those geocaches favorite points equal certain milestones:
1000, 5000, 10000, 15000, 20000, and 25000

Can you help?

I doubt if this kind of challenge will get approval from your reviewer. Please ask your local reviewer if this challenge is acceptable.

I will check. Do you think because of the increments? Instead of 1000 as a start it could be 100, 500, 1000, 5000, 10000, 20000? or similar?

I think that the problem is the word "equal" as geocacher should stop finding more caches to qualify for the challenge.

Do you really mean that the score should be just equal? Normally these are qualified if the number of favorites is equal or more than the specified limit.

Example: Challenge: GC7CVZW - HM 08 - Favourite Points Challenge Gold, 75000 favorite points total

Second problem is that you must qualify yourself. And your favorite total is 32352 so you can not qualify at all because you topped the challenge to 25000 points.

Oops. Wrong verbiage. it should be "at least" those milestones. Find 1000 or more.

I have sent a note to our reviewers seeking their advice.

It is still good idea to check the idea as you are going to make a series and the reviewer may have something to say about that matter.

Initial feedback from Gat R Done, reviewer-MN, was asking me why you were asking as he said you have a good handle on what are acceptable challenges and which aren't.

I told him I thought it was word usage confusion.

You mentioned concern for being exactly the milestone number when I meant the challenge to be "have found at least X geocaches with X amount of favorite points when added up".

Is this a correct point of clarification?

I do not know what vogelbird was worried about but I think about this guideline:

"Please do not submit a challenge cache in an area where a very similar or identical challenge cache already exists."

It is up to reviewer to decide are these different enough to be accepted :)

Ah, now I get it. Thanks for the clarity. I will ask the reviewer about that.

I was a bit quick in answering. When a read the word milestone I was thinking 1000 caches with a total of a 1000 favorite points etc. in one checker. So this would be milestones in number of caches which normally is not approved.
Now I understand that iit is a serie of challage caches with increasing number of point.

These challenges have been approved before
Just supply us wth the GCcode and we will make the checkers

Would it be one checker for all, or one for each? I am thinking one for all would suffice.

Each cache would need a separate checker, since the limits are different. The checkers would probably use the same script and just have different configuration.
