Re: GC7X7ZM - Tag Update Request

[Resolved] GC7X7ZM - Tag Update Request
September 06, 2018 02:17PM
I recently created a couple of Challenge caches that got rejected by local Reviewer, but I had already linked checkers to these caches, and I'm now having trouble linking a new checker. I put in an unlink request yesterday, and the existing tags were disabled, but I'm still being preventing from linking to a new checker.

The first of these is for GC7X7ZM - this was originally a checker requiring 10 finds on caches hidden in the Year 2000, but my Reviewer said that number was too high for my area, but it would be approved if I reduced it to 8. I found another existing checker that works for my challenge at https://project-gc.com/Challenges/GC5BRWX/5713 but when I attempt to link it to my GC Code, I get an error message saying the code is already linked to another checker (even though the tag was disabled for that checker).

Is there any way to have the checker currently existing at https://project-gc.com/Challenges/GC5BRWX/5713 cloned and tagged to GC7X7ZM?

Yes, I expressed my opinion that you won't be able to clone checkers against those GC codes. You might be able to find the disabled checkers on this page from where you might be able to delete them. I say might since I'm not sure how much rights you'll have to do this. Either way, here's a new checker for you:

Please test and let us know if it's suitable.

Thanks. I just checked it and it works as intended.

Sorry about the confusion on this - I actually did see your comment yesterday in the other thread when you said I wouldn't be able to clone the disabled checkers, but I misunderstood what you were saying (I originally thought you were just saying that I might not be able to find appropriate existing checkers to clone, which was just a misread on my part)

I tried your link for deleting the disabled checkers, but I don't think I have the permissions to do it. There's an "edit" link, which I presume is where the deletion functionality is, but the link is faded and I can't click (which I'm assuming is because I don't have the right level or permissions)

Probably permissions. If you can PM me a screen-shot of what you're seeing there, maybe I can assist you in getting them deleted for good. However, I'm unsure what's possible and what not, permission wise.

So I dug a little further and it turns out I did find a way to access editing, but I can't find a way to actually delete the checker. I did come across a "remove tag" option, and I used it on one of the checkers I'm trying to unlink, but even after doing that, when I tried to link the new checker to the same GC code, I still got an error message saying that the code was tagged to another checker.

I couldn't figure out how to send a PM through this forum, so I just uploaded a screenshot to imgur. This is what I'm seeing:

"Remove Tag" is the button to use, but not whilst editing it (as per screenshot). First cancel that action by clicking "Cancel" and then try the "Remove Tag" button. It should prompt you to confirm the removal. You should then not be able to enter this editing mode afterwards, ie. it should tell you that it doesn't exist. If all that doesn't work, just come and ask here so we can create a new checker for you.

Got it. Thanks for all your help! I don't think I need anything further on this one.
