Re: Checker request for GC43517

[Awaiting feedback] Checker request for GC43517
January 01, 2022 03:57AM
GC code is GC43517. It is an older, grandfathered challenge. To qualify, you need to find a minimum of seven caches in one day (12:00 AM to 11:59 PM). Of these caches, there needs to be a minimum of (2) different states AND a minimum of (3) different icons. Also, the challenge cache itself (GC43517) cannot be one of the qualifying caches.

Thank you!

The challenge conditions do not lend themselves to a simple tag, so I believe a new script would be required. This is likely to be low on most script-writers' priorities since, given the current guidelines, the script would have limited usefulness.

No problem at all! I had a feeling this would be a tricky script and low priority.

I found the code I needed thanks.

I've written a one-off script for this challenge, however, before I enable it, there is some ambiguity to be resolved:

1. Is this challenge limited to the US states only? If (for example) 1 US states and 1 Canadian province used, does that count as a qualifier?
2. Are you allowed to use different cache types from the same county? For example, finding 7 cache types in a single county, and then subsequently 6 other counties (and representing at least 2 states), but all the same type. Does that still count? I'm guessing not, but it would be good to verify this condition. (One of the last few finders did something such as this - 3 of their types were in a single county - and they only had 5 types total and 2 states - and so the current script reports they do not qualify, as it says that they only have 3 types and 2 states).

Thanks,
bmuzzin

Any update from the CO?

From the CO - The intent was an icon in each county but TBH that wasn't really defined so I guess if the script writer makes it the easier way, that works fine. Yes, it was written for a states challenge so I did not include Canadian provinces.

Okay, I'll leave it as implemented, so that multiple types in the same county do not count towards the total number of types. ie. You must 'assign' a type to a particular county. I've also limited it to the United States, and surprisingly to me, I still qualify. I should have found this one when I was in Chicago (but there are so many of the 7 challenges)!

As noted, the script reports that one of the last 10 loggers does not qualify. Please verify, test and respond.
