Elevations of all geocaches will be updated the coming two weeks. The service provider we use has made major improvements and we therefore chose to update all our data. Primarily they have new sources which much better accuracy, but there is also some improvements in math for interpolations. The countries that will be improved the most are: * Denmark * Finland * France * Germany * Hong Koby magma1447 - Checker news

Updated polygons for South Korea. I let the names change to the latest in OSM since I don't think it affects anything. Otherwise I sometimes rename them to the old names to make it easier for the challenge checkers and such. There are three half relevant changes: * Ansan-si renamed to Ansan * Gwangmyeong-si renamed to Gwangmyeong * County moved from region (id=73311,osmId:-7816959) tby magma1447 - Checker news

Will update USA polygon data today. I will start soon (within the hour) and it will progress for most of the day. The only relevant changes I have seen are these: * Black Hawk County (IA) (Iowa) renamed to Black Hawk County (IA) (double suffix fixed) * Green County (KY) (Kentucky) renamed to Green County (KY) (double suffix fixed) * Kenai Peninsula (AK) (Alaska) renamed to Kenai Peninsula (by magma1447 - Checker news
The import of polygons has completed. Now I will start a few jobs that will update the county names and such. That will probably require a few hours (maybe 5-10h). Meanwhile both old and new will exist.by magma1447 - Checker news

Canada's current definitions are from 2021-03-15 (YMD). Today I will start updating it to newer data. Canada was also the only country that didn't use OSM only. It was a mix of OSM and some census data. With the new version this will be fixed. OSM didn't have the polygons needed two years ago. The update includes some changes though. The method can still be used if the script merges the CA and NA upon need. And we agree Central America isn't a continent, but after discussions, and suggestions, we went ahead with the task. We feel that the pros outweighs the cons.by magma1447 - Checker news
First off the callback method GetContinentDefinitions() should be fixed in the next release, which should happen today. Then Project-GC is also updating its Continent definitions. This should not affect any existing challenge checkers since no scripts uses GetContinentDefinitions(). I don't believe there is a need to update and challenges either. A very old topic, which I accidentally stumbled upon now. It's correct that it didn't work. When implementing a new callback method there are basically three things: * Comments above the function, that's being read by Doxygen, which then generates the documentation. This existed. * The function/code itself. This existed as well. * A mapping of PHP functions usable by the LUAby magma1447 - Script development
For the challenge difficulty to be calculated the system requires that the checker has been run successfully at least 1000 times. This includes runs from our background services, the so called auto-challenge-checkers. So 1000 isn't a lot, normally. The three challenges you have published recently seem to have 800-900 each. This is low after such long time. The difficulty calculations areby magma1447 - Miscellaneous
We had a support ticket that two counties in Vietnam belonged to the wrong region. Our data was from early 2021 and OSM has been updated since then. I will run an update today. After a week of discussions with a local geocacher from Colombia I have decided to update the polygon data for the country. It's a major update. Current region definitions will be thrown out. During today and tomorrow I will update the polygon data for USA to whatever was in OpenStreetMap in the beginning of December. There should be zero changes in names and such, just minor border changes. That seems to be a case of data being obsolete/old in Project-GC. And also "out of sync". When I updated the data for GCNXZ7 the owner_id change to 1. So Project-GC has this far, somehow, found that the user 264059 doesn't exist anymore. At that time it doesn't update any geocaches though.
