Hi I have recently come across this expression relating to challenges and more the fact that HQ have put a halt on challenges where 'grid art' is apparent. Please can someone explain which guideline this is against ? I would have thought (for example) finding 17 caches that happen to be the DT values that make the two diagonals completely satisfy 5. Standard for criteria * Challby Deepdiggingmole - Miscellaneous
To The Leprechauns Hi The "X" pattern is a classic example of "Grid Art." This is not a geocaching achievement. Can you advise which guideline this would fail to comply with I think it ticks all the boxes for *Challenge criteria must be positive and require that a geocaching goal be achieved. *The challenge requirements should be simple, and easy to explain, folloby Deepdiggingmole - ARCHIVE Checker requests (impossible)
Is linking a Lab cache to a date / specific date going to be an issue ? I would read the 'not specifying lab caches' as including them in say, an icon challenge, where the finding of a lab can be included among other icons but not being specific when finding the dates when you found lab caches are not identified on the GC site but in the app. Just a thoughtby Deepdiggingmole - ARCHIVE Checker requests (completed)
I agree and am aware reviewers in different countries set different levels - however I have knowledge of one for 11 was rejected and it was HQ that insisted on 9 on appeal - it was only through pressure from the reviewer that they (HQ) agreed to 10 for that particular one. My suggestion of checking with the reviewer first was to ensure that that number (10) was going to be accepted otherwise aby Deepdiggingmole - ARCHIVE Checker requests (completed)
Although I do not doubt a checker can and may well be created by the team here - having a high quantity of icons in one challenge is often questioned/rejected by reviewers. The previous challenge that you referred to was published back in 2012 long before restrictions on icon numbers came about. It might be worth checking with your local reviewer whether he/she will publish this and if so you shby Deepdiggingmole - ARCHIVE Checker requests (completed)
Ha - all good now I tried it several times after you posted the update and it kept showing a find for 'V' in America - up to now I have not found any caches in America so I know it would be one of the several 'locationless' caches logged way back when. However just tried it again and now shows a 'V' in Belgium - so all good I'll add that I do think itby Deepdiggingmole - ARCHIVE Checker requests (completed)
Have you a link to the above (with locationless excluded) as the one above still produces a locationless cache answer thanks Timby Deepdiggingmole - ARCHIVE Checker requests (completed)
I tested this That checker included a locationless cache ? I would suggest they need to be excluded Timby Deepdiggingmole - ARCHIVE Checker requests (completed)
I understand - however a challenge cache wont be published on the offchance that some more caches may get that attribute or that some more cachers may qualify even though none do at present. Attributes are not added automatically so that won't solve your problem This was just a word of warning - as a reviewer may (and most do) require you to provide proof that this has been achieved by otby Deepdiggingmole - ARCHIVE Checker requests (impossible)
In addition - although you may have seen many challenges which require you to find caches that spell out names or places etc - these were all published prior to 2015. Following a review of challenges by HQ at that time the guidelines as highlighted in the link above (particularly rule 2.15) were formulated and so a lot of the creative challenges like spelling are no longer allowed as it requby Deepdiggingmole - ARCHIVE Checker requests (completed)

Can the checker be amended to discount locationless - I have asked the CO to consider this and he doesnt want 'locationless' but hasn't done anything about it - my output ends up with 2 locationless (td) Thanks Timby Deepdiggingmole - ARCHIVE Checker requests (completed)

Can I suggest that although a checker can be made for the variety of options you have given - if, as you say " I can't find anyone fulfilling the challenge" you may not get this past a reviewer who may (and probably will) ask for a list of 10 local(ish) cachers who already qualify - even if you do get to the 81 grid completed position yourself not finding anyone else will pose thatby Deepdiggingmole - ARCHIVE Checker requests (impossible)
St Jacosa - I think you need to understand - not all reviewers are fully au fait with the challenge cache criteria guidelines, some have got it wrong and have published challenges which are against the current guidelines and ultimately those challenges have ended up being archived soon after either due to the mistake being pointed out to the reviewer or HQ being involved. It would be awkward for GC to argue with this one this year since they are even giving out a souvenir for finding on this day ;) - I appreciate after that day you'd have to wait another 4 years - but there would be so many potential finds on that day (:Dby Deepdiggingmole - ARCHIVE Checker requests (impossible)
