So not all moderators then ?by Deepdiggingmole - Challenge checker exceptions
We have genuine challenges for souvenirs and trackables. No finds required. Made me smile - as of course we now know that you DONT have to find caches to discover trackables - just cheat and download all those codes !!!!!!by Deepdiggingmole - Challenge checker exceptions
Not the first time a cache has been put on the list where the word challenge is NOT in the title and obviously a puzzle I recently put a similar post about GC8H3F3 Is there not a way of checking who puts these on the the list ? Is it just moderators who can add to the list or is that function open to all ?by Deepdiggingmole - Challenge checker exceptions
Thats works better Many thanks Timby Deepdiggingmole - ARCHIVE Checker requests (completed)
I have a checker for this cache which is already published ( https://project-gc.com/Challenges/GC8D98B/44925 ) I have only just spotted that it includes/allows locationless caches - I had not spotted this before. Please can this checker be amended to not include locationless caches It will not affect any previous finds, so all good there Thanks Timby Deepdiggingmole - ARCHIVE Checker requests (completed)
Regarding this - I have just noted that it includes locationless caches - it should not and I missed it on my initial check can this be re-done so as to discount locationless caches thank youby Deepdiggingmole - ARCHIVE Checker requests (completed)
Hah, must read translation better lol Cheersby Deepdiggingmole - ARCHIVE Checker requests (impossible)
I have just tried the checker for the above challenge - https://project-gc.com/Challenges/GC6XAYV/24414 Having found 21 caches in Belgium - I was surpised that the resulting check came back with no finds in Belgium I appreciate I doint qualify with the other two countries however the output script You have found required number of caches (1) in 0 countries so far. Required minimum is 3by Deepdiggingmole - ARCHIVE Checker requests (impossible)

I was referring to a scriptwriter / reviewer / moderator forum. A lot of challenge caches get looked at and reviewed by moderators - it was as a result of moderators reviewing challenges that it was discovered that several didn't comply with new guidelines - yet because they had a checker (which turned out to be cloned) it was obvious the reviewer was happy to publish. That is down to theby Deepdiggingmole - Miscellaneous
I am surprised that it takes longer for someone with fewer finds - an odd anomoly if that is what is happening !by Deepdiggingmole - Miscellaneous
vogelbird Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- Souvenirs are awards and receive then you have to attend an event or find a cache in order to receive one. but you said No finds required Yes, they are awards, but in order to get them you have to have found caches I was just showing the difference with the written log challenge - with that one no other caches haveby Deepdiggingmole - Challenge checker exceptions
arisoft Wrote: "We have genuine challenges for souvenirs and trackables. No finds required." I would argue that finds are required even for the above two examples To get souvenirs, caches have to be found or events attended prior to the souvenirs being awarded To get trackables caches are found or events attended in order for the trackables being picked up / discoveredby Deepdiggingmole - Challenge checker exceptions
OK I tried Xnard too - and got a result back in 50 seconds - so it didn't time out. However there was also the message "Sorry, the checker goes out of time without try all combination. This can be false negative" - this suggests it did time out but I got this after 50 seconds ? It does suggest Xnard may not qualify but the last message confuses that resultby Deepdiggingmole - Miscellaneous
OK - the example you gave (GC3DD4E) has been downvoted as a majority which I would hope does not give it challenge status on PGC I have always considered all challenge caches must involve finding at least one other cache and can not include the challenge cache itself I downvoted it because all the CO is getting you to do is write a longer log on this cache - there are no other caches involvedby Deepdiggingmole - Challenge checker exceptions
Do you have an example and this was the main reason I suggested discussing the criteria for challenges in this forum so that things like this could be thrashed out - I thnk in the long run it gives everyone a better idea as to what will and what wont be acceptableby Deepdiggingmole - Challenge checker exceptions
There is no problem getting a checker created if the challenge complies with current rulings - then that can be used to check your top finders in your area - once you have 10 you should be good to go. That said having 10 qualifiers already noted does not always mean the challenge will be publishedby Deepdiggingmole - Miscellaneous
This is an issue that has been noted many times and there are reviewers who look at a challenge and see that as it has a checker it must be OK and comply with current rules and go ahead and publish, only to find that the checker was cloned from an older challenge - and as a result, when this is pointed out the reviewer has no option but to archive. I acknowledge the hard job reviewers have andby Deepdiggingmole - Miscellaneous
Sometimes a checker will take time - possibly not just due to the complexity but site activity could be an issue I have just had a go with this checker and it came back with a result in just over a second !!by Deepdiggingmole - Miscellaneous
OK - is this process automated ? or is the disabling a manual action but automatically done by an individual until it gets approval from the exceptions list voting I have just checked and the checker works ???by Deepdiggingmole - Miscellaneous
https://coord.info/GC8H3F3 Why was this even put onto the checker exception list ?? The word challenge isnt in the cache name, it is obviously a puzzle and there is no challenge checker - just a puzzle checker Happy New Year to all :-)by Deepdiggingmole - Challenge checker exceptions
The caches they owned are allowed to stay up but they are automatically locked. Locking is understandable - but why delete the CO details - its just a name/ID and if required for info from that cache (as per in this challenge) then seems odd to have that info deleted too - it isnt as if trawling the cache details would take anyone to the account information for the CO Again I think GC has takeby Deepdiggingmole - ARCHIVE Checker requests (completed)
PattuX Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- But recently because of the GDPR users are allowed to completely delete their account. An oversight by GC.com when it comes to issues like this - I do not see any problem around COs having their accounts still available for stats purposes - does deleting their account also delete any caches linked to them too ???by Deepdiggingmole - ARCHIVE Checker requests (completed)
Though - in addition - I am surprised at the requirement to list these in your log though the script output does this anyway but as there is a checker it is very easy for the CO to check and if there is a query with the output the CO can deal from there - putting a written list in the log is far harder for the CO to check manually - so I am surprised by this.by Deepdiggingmole - ARCHIVE Checker requests (completed)
I have just tried the checker above - and got the following message Deepdiggingmole qualifies for this challenge Same T = 1.5 D = 2.5, GC61TRJ on 2018-08-24 placed by 1260rjc D = 1.5, GC4CTZQ on 2018-08-25 placed by AvieB D = 2.0, GC7DZVE on 2018-08-26 placed by Jonarse D = 3.0, GC4C7YZ on 2018-08-27 placed by mankybadger and JoseUK, adopted by Tia67uk D = 5.0, GC4DVB4 on 2018-08-28 plby Deepdiggingmole - ARCHIVE Checker requests (completed)
Seems like we may be the only ones actually reading the things ;)by Deepdiggingmole - Challenge checker exceptions
Though I can see you point - and don't disagree I would have downvoted them too - however all have criteria - which seems to be the basis for many moderators upvoting GC3MR7K - The Choose Your Own Challenge Challenge - the criteria is you set your own goal - if your goal is find 1000 caches - then how is that any different to any 'find a 1000 caches' challenges (for example)by Deepdiggingmole - Challenge checker exceptions
2 new challenges have come onto the exception list GC316Z3 - My Personal Top Ten - Challenge Cache and GC4Y95D - Geschichten aus dem Cacherleben (Challenge) Interesting that already there is dispute over whether they are challenges or not I have argued a lot about some some being within the guidelines and so shouldn't be counted and many come back at me and say - if it saysby Deepdiggingmole - Challenge checker exceptions
I have read the translations and in understanding the 'challenge' it would fit in the definition of a challenge - though they would not be allowed today as you have to search GC codes, this set are pre-moratorium I thus upvoted all except the bonus which is simply a ...bonusby Deepdiggingmole - Challenge checker exceptions
"There is an undisclosed guideline stating that a challenge checker is allowed only for challenge caches. So ... if the cache has a challenge checker, its name contains word "challenge" and it is a mystery cache type then it is published as a challenge without a doubt." And... as has been seen in many cases the caches gets published however they do not comply with the guideby Deepdiggingmole - Challenge checker exceptions
