"Reviewers must know that PGC do not approve challenges. At least our local reviewers know this very well." Missed my point It isn't the challenges PGC approve, it is the checkers - and many reviewers believe that if the checker is OK then so must the challenge - so if they see it on the cache page then it must be OK - but we know that is not always the caseby Deepdiggingmole - Challenge checker exceptions
"PGC do not accept or deny challenge ideas. If a reviewer accepts a challenge it will get the checker if it is possible to create. It the idea is questionable the checker may not be created until the CO has got green light from the reviewer". Though, often it is the other way round - as does happen in a lot of cases and certainly with several I have raised, where the checker is alrby Deepdiggingmole - Challenge checker exceptions
I understand what you mean by it having 'challenge' in bold - however many bonuses have the word challenge in their script or even in the title, also they don't all have the word bonus somewhere on the page The essence of this cache is to find the other caches (which are all challenge caches in their own right and there are no more other caches to be found other than these) onceby Deepdiggingmole - Challenge checker exceptions
That may have answered the query I recall sometime ago an issue regarding The Canaries being counted in 'Africa' rather than Europe (they are Spanish territory) - the answer given then was that it was based on geography rather than political and the New World Encyclopedia was the basis for the checkers. However if as you say continents are not allowed criteria but a list of countriesby Deepdiggingmole - Miscellaneous
Hi I think the main reason (and this was why I downvoted) was that despite it looking like a challenge (the sentence as given in the OP) when you look further down this is simply a glorified Bonus cache Yes, you are required to go to and sign the other 5 caches mainly to get codes and then in the last of the five there is a formula which enables finding the cache South Bro Certified "Tby Deepdiggingmole - Challenge checker exceptions
arisoft Wrote: But the question is: "Is it a challenge cache", not "Does it follow all guidelines". Reviewers check guidelines. The idea of exceptions is to record the state of the cache not to correct the state. OK Wow - then I guess you have to have a reviewer that doesn't read the guidelines to allow your challenge to get published then - because I know very well that HQ would not allow any of these OK thank youby Deepdiggingmole - Challenge checker exceptions
GC8E4HN is a German cache and has enough qualifiers to get published. In general the CO has to name 10 local cachers who qualify and there are I am aware where the cache is located - what difference does that make ? Many challenges caches get a checker created and there are 10 or more qualifiers - but still dont get published due to the attainability issue. This cache did not use a checker crby Deepdiggingmole - Challenge checker exceptions
While reviewing challenges I came a cross these two I appreciate most wouldn't argue that the content of the caches include criteria that would classify them as challenges - however I did wonder how they even got published as I considered these fail the attainability test as per the guidelines from HQ GC8E4HN - requires you to attain 100,000 fav points with just 20 caches. Note thisby Deepdiggingmole - Challenge checker exceptions
As an explanation as to why this one has gone on the exception list - this cache was originally a challenge cache - however it had no checker and this was pointed out to the CO - who essentially chose to change it to a puzzle rather than get a checker created !!!! so now it is just a puzzleby Deepdiggingmole - Challenge checker exceptions
GC8A9B0 has recently been added It is noted this has been given an upvote - this is a puzzle not a challenge if you know the background you may be aware of the reason for creating this cache The one being refered to - GC89ZW4 - was a challenge cache that originally required you to spell your name with cache titles (see early logs) - this could not be done under new rules and so the CO/revieby Deepdiggingmole - Challenge checker exceptions

I was under the impression that any challenge that required you to find any %age of caches within a specific area was against the criteria guidelines 12. All or Percentage of caches Finding all or any percentage of the caches, or of a cache type, rating, or other allowable value within a specified area is not publishable If this is the case - how did https://coord.info/GC8EEB0 (and indeedby Deepdiggingmole - Miscellaneous

I have had to revert to the 10 country version (45105) - so if the original (11 country) can be deleted please Many thanks for helpby Deepdiggingmole - ARCHIVE Checker requests (completed)
It has come to my attention that there seems to be some inconsistency with checkers put out where the criteria involves finding caches in different continents I am aware this issue was raised sometime last year when some clarification was required as to why the Canary Islands came under Africa (and not Europe as they are Spanish territory) and Cyprus coming under Asia even though it too is Europby Deepdiggingmole - Miscellaneous

Ah - if 11 is allowed will I have to get it changed back again I was hoping to have a second checker in case I had to drop it to 10 (not happened as yet )by Deepdiggingmole - ARCHIVE Checker requests (completed)
https://project-gc.com/forum/read?11,32114,32114#msg-32114 I recently requested this for 11 to 1 Could I have a similar checker but with the criteria 10 to 1 i.e 10 types in 1 country 9 types in a second country 8 in a third down to 1 in the tenth This is in case my 11 type requirement is rejected :-( Thanksby Deepdiggingmole - ARCHIVE Checker requests (completed)
I am aware that several years ago HQ dictated that the number of cachet types (icons) allowed to be used in a challenge would be limited to 8. I am under the impression that since the moratorium this was relaxed and 11 icons is now allowed Am I wrong ? Is there anything written to verify this 'ruling' Thank youby Deepdiggingmole - Miscellaneous

Can I have a checker where the cache count follows the fibonacci sequence based on finds in different countries so 1 cache in one country and up as follows 1 in 2nd country 2 in 3rd country 3 in 4th 5 in 5th 8 in 6th 13 in 7th 21 in 8th 34 in 9th 55 in 10th 89 in 11th 144 in 12th 233 in 13th 377 in 14th 610 in 15th Many thanks Timby Deepdiggingmole - ARCHIVE Checker requests (completed)
I would like a checker for the following challenge in descending order 11 icons down to 1 icon in separate countries i.e 11 icons in UK 10 icons in Spain 9 icons in New Zealand 8 icons in Australia ... etc etc down to 1 icon in country number 11 Thank youby Deepdiggingmole - ARCHIVE Checker requests (completed)
Please note - this cache was archived due to the fact that it didn't conform to the guidelines (original requirements were along the lines of 'find caches that began with the letters that spelled your caching name' ) However for some strange reason the cache was unarchived and allowed to have completely different challenge criteria (changed to find 50 virtuals - which did conformby Deepdiggingmole - Challenge checker exceptions

Hi Just spotted the above - I know that some would up vote this on the checker exception list - because 'There are criteria that you need to fulfil' However can someone check this for me and see if it should even have been published It requires using cache names as the criteria which is against the ruling 10 Source of criteria : NOT allowed : These cache page elements: cache titlby Deepdiggingmole - Challenge checker exceptions
Ah - checked all the logs and mention of a checker is made in one log (created by that same logger) !!!!! not used on the cache page or by anyone since So why does the checker not abide by the current rules ? Timby Deepdiggingmole - Challenge checker exceptions
