Reason: List of membership features

What is it?

Some of the features on Project-GC are available for paying members only. A paid membership helps the site pay for servers, external services and other expenses. In return you get access to more features. More information can be found at the Membership page.

The paid membership features are generally marked with a green Paying members only-banner.

  • Multi Map Compare - Compare finds on a map between more than two geocachers.
  • Stat Compare - Compare basic statistics with other geocachers. You can compare many profiles at once.
  • Custom Filters - Build advanced filters and save them for later use. Not 100% done yet.
  • Map Regions - A map-tool to help you find geocaches in new regions.
  • Map Counties - A map-tool to help you find geocaches in new counties.
  • Profile Stats - Lab caches - Lab caches included in Profile statistics where applicable.
  • Profile Stats - Challenges - A tab with focus on Challenges.
  • Profile Stats - Settings - Enable/Disable modules manually.
  • Route Builder - Build routes that you can later on use as filters on various pages.
  • Virtual GPS - Add caches to your Virtual GPS and build GPX's. Think about it as a shopping cart for caches. Building GPX files also requires a premium membership with Geocaching.com.
  • Profile Stats - Daily refresh - The Profile stats are generated weekly for non-paying members. With an upgraded account they will be updated daily.
  • Solved Mysteries - Plot a map with all the caches you have saved final coordinates for on Geocaching.com.
  • My Finds GPX - Automatically generated My Finds GPX files that you can download. Premium membership with Geocaching.com required as well.
  • New Cache Notifiers - Take advantage of our advanced notifiers when a new geocache is published. You can even use a dynamic center point that your smartphone keeps updating for you. Some advantages: Filter on country/region/county/difficulty/terrain/type/size. No distance limit. Get an email up until and including the first found log. More details in the emails. Premium membership with Geocaching.com required as well.
  • Event Notifiers - Advanced notifiers for events, where you can filter by number of Will Attend logs, location data and distance.
  • Edited logs Notifiers - Receive a daily email with all the logs on geocaches you own that Project-GC has detected as edited.
  • FP Notifiers - Receive a daily email telling you who has added or removed favourite points from your geocaches.
  • Log images Notifiers - Receive a daily email when Project-GC has detected that new images has been uploaded to geocaches that you own. Besides actually seeing the photos, it's also a great way to avoid spoilers of your hides. Additionally, Project-GC will inform you if the images are geo-tagged by showing the coordinates inside the image, together with the distance to the hide itself.
  • Top Found Percent - Who has found the highest percent geocaches in a certain area?
  • Challenge checkers - Run more challenge checkers! Non paying users are only allowed to run 10 challenge checkers per day. As a paying member there is no limit.
  • Challenge checker map - Access to a map that shows the challenge caches in the world, and also shows which of them have checkers at Project-GC.
  • Discover trackables - Prioritised in the job queue for batch-discovering trackables.
  • Live map - More live filters available.
  • Dashboard - Advanced search - Make advanced searches based on our full text indexing, including searching geocache logs.
  • Gallery - The Gallery enables you to interactively see all photos from a Geocache, a bookmark list or a Virtual GPS list.
  • Log Compare - Compare logs with friends after a trip to see if you, or they, missed anything.
  • Needed Found Dates - If you like collecting different attributes (D/T, type, size...) to fill your calendar, this is your best friend.
  • DT History - Did you lose a D/T rating you used to have? This page helps you track down which geocache it was that changed its rating.
  • Type History - Did you lose a cache type you used to have? This page helps you track down which geocache it was that changed its type.
  • Size History - Did you lose a cache size you used to have? This page helps you track down which geocache it was that changed its size.
  • 360 from home - Full access to all of its features without the limitations for free users.
  • Google Maps - Google Maps layers on dynamic maps throughout the site.
  • Corrected coordinates - Toggle between plotted and corrected coordinates on the maps.
  • Auto-challenge-checkers - Challenge checkers are automatically processed in the background to see which challenges you fulfil. You will then see your checker results on any map that shows a challenge cache. If a challenge cache uses our advanced checker-image in its cache description you will also be able to see your checker result without even visiting Project-GC.
  • Additional filters - Some filters are only available to paying members. For example, the loop filter and the cache name filter.
  • Continent filters - As a paying member you can choose to filter on pre-defined continent definitions. For more details regarding the definitions, visit the FAQ.
  • Multi-country/region/county select in filters - Select any amount of countries/regions/counties at once in the filter system.
  • Quick search - Quick search function in the menu bar to find that page you are looking for faster.
  • Fewer filter requirements - Most top lists have filter requirements due to performance reasons. Most of these have been removed for subscribers.
  • Zero ads - An ad-free site. Specially great for those with very small monitors (low resolution) where the right ad unit might be in the way sometimes.

Gifting / Transfer membership time

You can transfer membership time from your account into someone else's. You need to transfer at least 10 days. There is no maximum of how much time you can transfer, the only limitations is that you need to still have 30 days left on your own account.

The transaction is not reversable.

Trial

If a user has not tried the paid membership a trial for 10 days can be activated on the Membership page at the main site. The trial allows the user to try all the features available but there are some restrictions for the trial period.

These things may not work as expected during the trial period:

  • The user's Profile Stats might take a few days before it starts to render on a daily basis.
  • The auto-challenge-checkers may take a few days to process, therefore that won't work fully the first days.
  • Not all notifiers get activated for trials.

Payment

Paid membership can be bought for 1, 2, 3 or 5 years at the time, the user can choose to pay in EUR, USD or SEK. Buying membership time is subject to the Payment terms that are linked on the Membership page at the main site.

Project-GC offers a number of different payment methods, they are listed below.

  • Card payment
  • PayPal
  • Giropay
  • iDeal
  • Bancontact
  • EPS
  • P24

However, not all payment methods are available for all users or all currencies. The unavailable payment methods will appear 'grayed out', this is to avoid the user getting a failed transaction. Choosing another currency might give the user more options. Some of the payment methods are only available to certain countries, these are enabled if Project-GC detects that the users IP-address is in a matching country or that the user's profile seems to belong to a matching country based on their geocaching activities. There are plans to add a couple of more payment options in the future.

The payment options are generally self explanatory when buying membership time and for the user there are very small differences in the different options, however, many users stated that credit card is their preferred method.[1] For Project-GC the main difference is that the transaction fee for PayPal is very high and the transaction fee for Card payment is much smaller.

For payment related problems, contact Support at the main page.
